Common advice for weight loss is to cut the soda out, but it’s not always easy to go straight to throwing back a gallon of water everyday.
Here are a few different low-calorie drink options:
Zevia: zero calorie soda sweetened with stevia. Fruit flavors as well as classics like root beer and cream soda. These are really good. Find at: Sprouts, WF, etc. I’ve also seen it at my local grocery.
Sparkling Ice: Sweetened with splenda, these drinks are more like carbonated juices in a bunch of different yummy flavors. I buy these by the case at Costco, but you can also buy them individually at Wal-Mart.
Kombucha: The flavor takes a little getting used to, but it’s a fermented probiotic drink that comes in different fruit flavors and is lightly carbonated. Sounds weird, but it’s yummy. Find at WF, Sprouts, etc. Synergy brand is really good- I like their cranberry and strawberry flavors.
Iced/Hot Coffee: sweetened with splenda or stevia or SF syrup and some low fat milk (soy, almond, cows, etc) I’ve also heard that some people add in their protein powder as creamer with a boost.
Tea: if it’s iced, you can throw some fruit in there and/or sweeten with stevia, etc. There are all kinds of different teas available, especially now that we are moving into the fall season.
Water + fruit: ok so I did include water….if you’re focusing on increasing your water intake, it’s yummy to put a little juice (just for flavoring) and some fruit in. You can also use carbonated water, if you need the fizz.
BCAAs: Branched Chain Amino Acids are great for many reasons, but they also come in alll kinds of flavors. Check out bodybuilding.com for some yummy options. I’ve heard of people blending with water and ice to make a slushie. yum.
**there are mixed answers regarding sugar free sweeteners. I believe they are fine in moderation, but do what you think is best for YOU. 🙂
